Oxford Lovepacks giving back to community

Seven years ago, the charitable non-profit Oxford Lovepacks began as a way for Oxford and Lafayette schoolchildren in need to bring home supplemental food on the weekends. Lovepacks now serves every school in the LOU districts and handing out 160 packs a week. They’re still on a roll. Literally.
On Sept. 21, Bowling for Lovepacks will take place at Premier Lanes in the Oxford Commons as a fundraiser for the charity. This will be the third year that the event is happening at the alleys.
Tyler Meisenheimer, the Director of Sales at Oxford Commons, says the event started when the Commons teamed up with the construction and commercial real estate company RJ Allen & Associates to help Lovepacks raise money. Over the past two years, they have raised $15,000 for the organization and helped feed almost 1,000 children.
“Oxford Commons and RJ Allen & Associates value giving back to our local community and other communities,” Meisenheimer said. “We pulled together recently with Hurricane Harvey relief. The Lovepacks event is our annual event that is a combined effort from so many leaders in the Oxford community to help make sure there are no local children who ever have to go without the necessary food and nutrients they need daily. We are so happy to team up with so many leaders in this community and invest back into the community that has given us so much.”
Though the lanes have filled up quickly, those interested can still make donations to the Lovepacks cause.
Meisenheimer said this event would not be possible without the help from local sponsors who include Kessinger Realty, Turner Law, Bank of Oxford and Oxford Counseling Center, among others.
