Alice Oliver Callicutt

Alice Oliver Callicutt, 87, died July 7, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with Dr. Robert Allen officiating. Visitation will be in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home on Monday from 12- 2 p.m.
Mrs. Callicutt was born on February 23, 1930 in Kosciusko, to the late Felton O. Oliver and Ruby Dendy Oliver. She graduated from Kosciusko High School before attending Blue Mountain College. She went on to receive a degree in History and Bible from Mississippi College. After graduation, she moved to Jackson, and became office manager for The Burroughs Corporation. In 1960, she married her husband of 46 years, K. Hayes Callicutt. Together, they established the Jackson School of Law, where she served as Registrar for many years. She and her husband were active members of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the WMU. Since moving to Oxford in 1998, Mrs. Callicutt has been an active member of First Baptist Church, Oxford and was also a member of the Woman’s Forum. She had a lively personality and always had a story for every occasion. She was a friend to many and cherished the many friends who touched her life over the years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, K. Hayes Callicutt, her sister, Tannie Lawshe, and one brother, William O. (Billy) Oliver.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Brigance, of Birmingham, Alabama and a brother, James D. (Buster) Oliver of Pearl, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
