Neither of Ole Miss’ top pitcher signees will make it to campus.
Vestavia Hills (Alabama) right-hander Caden Lemons signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. The 6-foot-6 Lemons, who was taken with the 46th overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft, signed for $1.45 million, according to MLB.com’s Jim Callis.
Lemons’ signing comes a few days after another Ole Miss signee, right-hander Steven Jennings, inked with the Pittsburgh Pirates for $1.9 million. Jennings was taken four picks ahead of Lemons.
Left-hander Jordan Fowler was the only other Ole Miss signee drafted, though the Rebels are likely to hold on to him after signability caused the Dyer County (Tennessee) standout to drop to the 26th round before being taken by the Texas Rangers.
Teams have until July 7 to sign their draft picks.
