The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is pleased to announce the impending graduation of the following students from Oxford and Lafayette County.

William Christopher Colley, of Oxford is the child of Carol Cleveland. Next year, Colley plans to attend Mississippi State University and will major in physics. Before attending MSMS, Colley was a student at Oxford High School.

Samuel Conner McCartney, of Oxford, is the child of Bryan and Karen McCartney. Next year, McCartney plans to attend Mississippi State University and will major in mechanical engineering. Before attending MSMS, McCartney was a student at Lafayette High School.

Darby Wilson Meadows, of Oxford, is the child of Scott and Lori Meadows. Next year, Meadows plans to attend the United States Naval Academy. Before attending MSMS, Meadows was a student at Oxford High School.

Joshua Tyler Snow, of Oxford, is the child of Shawn and Lena Snow. Next year, Snow plans to attend the University of Mississippi and will major in Accountancy. Before attending MSMS, Snow was a student at Lafayette High School.

These students are part of the 118 who make up the MSMS Class of 2017. So far, this class has been offered in excess of $28 million in scholarship dollars and has accepted nearly $9.5 million.

Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2017 were held on Saturday, May 20, in Rent Auditorium on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women.

The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is the state’s only public, residential high school specifically designed to meet the needs of the state’s most academically gifted and talented students. Founded in 1987 by an act of the Mississippi legislature, MSMS is housed on the campus of MUW in Columbus.

The school serves high school juniors and seniors from all corners of the Magnolia state. Students interested in attending MSMS must apply during their sophomore year of high school.
