James Alderson obituary, funeral services

James “Brett” Alderson, 22, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church with the Rev. David Bodenheimer and the Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, Jan. 18, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home.
Brett was born Jan. 9, 1995 to Glenn Alderson Jr. and Carla Bruno Alderson. He attended Oxford City schools and was a 2014 graduate of Oxford High School. As a child, Brett loved playing football and baseball. He was a natural athlete and excelled at any sport he played. Brett loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite place to spend time was his hunting camp and had already killed six deer this season.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Amber Jo (“Jackie”) Alderson; his grandfathers, James Vincent Bruno and Malcolm James.
He is survived by his mother, Carla Bruno Alderson of Oxford; his father, Glenn Alderson Jr. of Lindale, Texas; his sister, Caroline Alderson of Oxford; his grandfather, Glenn Alderson Sr. of Oxford; his grandmother, Margaret James of Grenada; and his beloved dog, Darla.
Memorial contributions in Brett’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
