James Monroe Walker

James Monroe Walker, 76, of Corinth, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Cornerstone Health and Rehab in Corinth.

He was born in Ripley, on May 11, 1940 to the late Jasper “Jr.” Walker and Vadie Pannell Walker. James was a truck driver and a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid NASCAR and University of Alabama football fan.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, and from 10 a.m. till service time Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of James’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. Titus Mathis. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Those left to honor James’s memory include his son: Matthew Walker (Jillyan) of Radcliff, Kentucky; his stepson: Dwight David Ramsey of Oxford; his daughter: Dorsha Kennon (Larry) of Somerville, Tennessee; his grandchild: Laura Walker of Horn Lake; his step granddaughter: Paige Ramsey Vandygriff (Derek) of Endville; his step great-grandchild: Vaught Vandygriff; his brothers: Ken Walker of Corinth, Cecil Walker (Brenda) of Horn Lake, and Arthur Walker of Walnut; his sisters: Mary Ruth Mathis of Walnut, Marie Bragg (Larry), Dorothy Latch (Mike), and Nelda Carter all of Corinth; other relatives and a host of  friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepson: Roy Elgin Ramsey; his brother: Joe Walker and his sister: Louise Rorie.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association PO Box 2178 Ridgeland, MS 39158.
