OXFORD — Robert DeWitt Clemons, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Oxford, with the Rev. David Ard officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Pontotoc County to the late Lafayette Dunkin and Gladys Mae Henderson Clemons, Mr. Clemons worked in maintenance for Champion for over 17 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a York Rite Mason and had obtained his 50-year pin with the Masons. He was Master of the O.D. Smith Lodge in 1978.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Keel Clemons and his daughter, Donna Jean Clemons.

He is survived by his son, Johnny Reed Clemons of Delay, Mississippi; a sister, Glenda Jeanette Rushing of Powell, Wyoming; a brother, Gerald Wayne Clemons of Oxford; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
