Last Week’s Art-er Limits Fringe Festival was a blast, and the artistic offerings keep coming.

Continue the celebration by visiting Bozarts Gallery in Water Valley this weekend to see their newest show, Synesthesia: Seeing Sounds.  The reception for the show will be held on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.

According to the gallery press release, “it’s a show that has to do with music and the idea of seeing music.” Synesthesia is a  term for a neurological condition in which senses overlap, such as “seeing” sound or “hearing” color.  Many artists use color to express emotion, but those with the condition can be a more direct reflection of what they actually see. Kandinsky’s work is an example of such a gift.

While this show presents different approaches to the idea of “seeing sound” — it just might perk the interest of our art audience.

Featured artists in the show include William Warren, Katrina Geenen, Adrienne Brown-David, Elsie Booker and Ed Croom.

The alliance spotlight during this exhibition will be by photographer Jack Gurner.

Expect a diverse grouping of work including work by Katrina Geenen who had a long-running Brazilian music show on WWOZ 90.7 in New Orleans called Tudo Ben, which means “all right.”

Geenen, who has been a long standing alliance member, is helping to curate this show, which includes several alliance members of the gallery.

Adrienne Brown David will be featuring recreations of album covers featuring portraits of her four daughters. Albums include ones by Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, as well as others.

The most recent news for the gallery is the addition of a new intern, Amanda Malloy, who will be on board to help the alliance plan, market and expand the public presence of the gallery.

In addition to the current show, which will be up until Oct. 1, the fall semester includes a circus/carnival-themed exhibition, as well as the popular Holiday Miniatures Show which is held every holiday season and features small works by all alliance members, as well as invited guest artists.

The annual Water Valley Studio Crawl will be held Oct. 8 and the gallery will be celebrating the opening of the above mentioned circus/carnival themed show.

So expect fun, frivolity and innovative offerings from this gallery, which has been entertaining art lovers for several years now.

Make the trip to Water Valley and enjoy the artistic offerings this locally owned gallery has to offer. The gallery is located at 403 Main Street and is open Thursday-Friday noon to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
