The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour returns to the Neshoba County Fair on Saturday, at 8 pm at the Founder’s Square Pavilion. Guests will include bluegrass sensation and American Idol semi-finalist Amelia Eisenhauer, 84-year-old blues man, Leo “Bud” Welch and former Mississippi resident, humorist Harrison Scott Key.
The show is hosted by Jim Dees and house band, the Yalobushwhackers.
The program will be recorded for air in August on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is heard locally every Saturday at 7 p.m. on WMAW 88.1 FM.
Following the radio show, the Amelia Eisenhauer Band will perform another one hour set from 9-10 p.m.
Host Jim Dees, who has ties to Neshoba County, says Fairgoers are in for a treat with this year’s guests.
“This year we have a 15-year-old fiddle player, Ameila Eisenhauer, who wowed all the judges on American Idol,” Dees said. “Then we have “Bud” Welch who just got ‘discovered’ at age 81 and is now 84. He likes to dance while he plays. And our author is Harrison Scott Key who has written one of the funniest books ever written about growing up in Mississippi, ‘The World’s Largest Man.’”
This will be the eighth consecutive year the radio program has performed at the Fair.
