The citizens of Oxford and Lafayette County are in need of a year-round, public and affordable swimming pool. Our children need to learn to swim. That is imperative. Aquatic recreation can help bring families closer to one another. High school swimming teams need a place to practice throughout the seasons. Other organizations could enjoy the use of the pool. The pool could be rented for birthday or other parties. And the senior citizens water aerobics program could function throughout the year. Swimming is excellent exercise for all.

Leisure Lifestyles at the Activity Center would like to make these options available to the public at the proposed new Activity Center. Fine tennis courts are already provided to the public. Indoor tennis courts are proposed. Soccer fields are now provided as well as football, baseball, softball and basketball courts.

If Oxford and Lafayette County would provide an indoor pool it would immensely serve the citizens of the same. Likewise it would make Oxford and Lafayette County the envy of most of the rest of the state. We are unique. Let’s prove it.
