There’s a pretty big party on the horizon for Lafayette Countians.
Last year’s Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce’s Red Carpet Gala was such a big hit that it will happen again on May 19.
The second annual black-tie event will be at The Jefferson, Oxford’s newest event venue on Highway 6 East. Tickets are $75 each, or two for $125. The gala will feature The Memphis Bouffants, the Chamber Chef Shuffle where local chefs and caterers will showcase their best foods, a cash bar and will be sponsored by Allen Samuels from 7 to 11 p.m. There also is a raffle for a pair of diamond earrings.
Kate Rosson, event chairwoman, said the event began last year as a way to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Chamber.
“We received such rave reviews and demands from the membership to continue this as an annual event — just to celebrate our membership and growth in Oxford,” she said.
Rosson said organizers expect more than 400 to come out again this year.
“The entire community is invited; this is not exclusive to only Chamber members,” she said. “Proceeds support the OLCC programs and services offered throughout the LOU community.”
Pam Swain, senior vice president of the Chamber, said the Chamber is excited and this gives residents the opportunity to come out and have a good time, dance and get a chance to be one of the first to attend an event at The Jefferson.
“This is an event where the entire community is invited to take the time to come together to celebrate our success as one of the best places to live in the country,” Swain said. “We are a truly blessed community with amazing people who support one another in business, in family and in growth. This event celebrates us all. We love the opportunity to take a break, celebrate together and have some fun. It is an event people do not want to miss.”
