NEMCC names its

fall president’s list

Two hundred and four Northeast Mississippi Community College students achieved a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2015 fall semester and as a result, have been named to the president’s list.

Included in the 2015 fall president’s list at Northeast Mississippi Community College were:

• Lendon Campbell King of Abbeville

• Robert Elijah Murphree of Oxford

Bridges graduates

basic training in SC

U.S. Army National Guard Pvt. William T. Bridges has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Bridges is the son of Kevin K. Bridges of Irving, Texas, and Helen L. Bridges of Oxford.

He is a 2015 graduate of Fort Collins High School, Fort Collins, Colorado.

MDE seeks sponsors for summer food

JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Education is seeking sponsors to operate the 2016 Summer Food Service Program in counties across the state.

The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals to children without regard to race, color, national origin, age (within statutory limits), gender or disability during summer school vacation periods.

In most areas, the program operates from June through August.

Students named to dean’s list in Memphis

The following students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Memphis for the fall 2015 semester:

• Thomas Green of Oxford

• Raven Hallmon of Oxford

The dean’s list is composed of students who have earned 12 or more hours in either the fall or spring semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for that semester.
