OXFORD — Wilma Harris, 70, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at her residence in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Philadelphia M.B. Church with the Rev. Alfred L. Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and visitation from 5-7 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Homes, which is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Oxford, she was a retired inspector for Emerson Electric Company. She was a member of Heroines of Jericho St. Mary Court No. 106. She was a member of Philadelphia M. B. Church where she served on usher board, mission, mother board and former choir member. She was a foster grandparent of North Mississippi Regional Center, a member of Mississippi Homemaker Volunteer and a former first lady of Liberty Hill M.B. Church in Batesville.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Harris of Oxford; sons, Claude Blake of St. Louis, Missouri and Davis Hill of Starkville; daughters, Gwendolyn Harris, Annette Harris-Driver, Kimolyn Harris and Angela Harris, all of Oxford; brothers, Hullie B. Williams of Oxford, Ronald Williams and Clarence A. Williams, both of Abbeville; sisters, Pearlie Gipson and Maxine Hill, both of Oxford; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
