Oxford man faces felony DUI charge after wreck in Grenada

An Oxford man has been arrested by the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly being drunk while driving an ATV and causing a wreck.

According to a press release, at about 3:05 p.m. on Jan. 20, deputies with the GCSO responded to a wreck involving an ATV on Sims Farm Road.

The passenger, Donald M. Smith, was transported via medical helicopter for substantial injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver, William L. Carson of Oxford was detained for suspicion of DUI. He was subsequently taken into custody for aggravated DUI due to the injuries of the passenger.

Carson was transported to the Grenada County Jail.

The condition of the passenger was unknown at press time.
