Mississippians spend an average of $41 at happy hour

With Happy Hour Day just around the corner on Nov. 12, Americans are raising their glasses to one of the nation’s favorite pastimes. Whether it’s unwinding after work or catching up with friends, happy hour has become a cherished ritual across the U.S., bringing people together with a little food, a few drinks, and a lot of laughs.
To see which states are leading the charge when it comes to happy hour spending, BetVirginia.com turned to Statista to crunch the numbers.
Mississippi made the top five, coming in fifth place with happy hour goers spending an average of $41.40 during their after-work wind-down.
Coming in at number one was Iowa, where the average happy hour fan spends a whopping $51.23. In second place is South Carolina, with New York following close behind in third. Virginia claims the fourth spot.
In Oxford, locals have already spoken on their top spots to enjoy the happy hour scene. According to the Oxford Eagle’s Best of 2024 contest, Saint Leo claimed the top prize, with Volta Taverna and Funkys Pizza & Daiquiri Bar close behind as fan favorites.
But it’s not just about the drinks. Happy hour is prime time for bars and restaurants to serve up specials on food, giving patrons even more reason to indulge. Whether it’s half-off appetizers or a deal on daiquiris, there’s something for everyone.
