A graveside memorial service for Jack Montgomery Barnes 71, of Ridgeland, MS, and formerly of Greenville, MS will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Greenville Cemetery in Greenville, MS.

Jack was born in Greenville, MS on May 17, 1953, and passed away in Jackson, MS on Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Jack was known by his multitude of friends for his kind heart, infectious smile, and his love for the Mississippi Delta.  He was an active member of the community and was always willing to lend a listening ear to those in need.

Jack graduated from Washington School and was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church. Jack enjoyed holidays with his family, traveling, and Ole Miss football. During the years that he lived in Oxford, he owned and operated MS Delta Transportation for many years until his recent retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Thomas Gordon Barnes, II, his mother, Susan Montgomery Barnes, and his brother, Tommy Barnes (Carla). He is survived by his brother, Fred Barnes, and sister, Susan Barnes Clark. He is also survived by his nieces, Kendal Barnes Bittick (Andrew), Brooke Barnes, and Rachel Barnes, and also his nephew, Gipson Clark. Jack is also survived by his great-nephew, Liam, and great-niece, Olivia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to St. James’ Episcopal Church in Greenville.
