July Blues roundup at Proud Larry’s

To observe the last day of the warmest month of the year, there will be a “July Blues Roundup” live music event at Proud Larry’s venue and restaurant on Wednesday.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The free show will feature three talented local musicians; Davis Coen, Eric Deaton and Kinney Kimbrough rejoining each other on the stage for hip-shakin’ rock grooves and North Mississippi Hill Country blues.
The kitchen at Proud Larry’s (located at 211 S. Lamar Blvd.) will serve food until 9 p.m.
Vocalist/electric guitarist Coen, who assumes the role of bandleader, will be accompanied by Deaton on electric bass, and Kimbrough on drums.
The trio most recently performed a Memorial Day Weekend show at Rafters on The Water, a popular spot at Sardis Lake, and played at The Green at Harrison’s, a downtown outdoor bar and music venue.
Coen’s music has received steady play on SiriusXM satellite radio for nearly two decades, on the “B.B. King’s Bluesville” channel, and has toured Europe over a dozen times as a solo artist.
He has 10 album releases, which are available at shows and on all streaming services.
Deaton, who also leads his own band, headlined last month at the annual Hill Country Picnic in Waterford, and has recorded with Grammy Award winners The Black Keys, as well as Louisiana bluesman Robert Finley.
Son of 2023 Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Junior Kimbrough, Kinney played on many of his father’s seminal recordings, as well as albums for countless other artists.
