Regents School of Oxford, a distinguished Classical Christian Institution, gathered Saturday to celebrate groundbreaking activities for a new gym wing for the New Upper School facility.
With dignitaries, donors, students and parents in attendance, Dr. Beth Paul, Regents senior director of advancement, gave thanks to all those who made this project a reality.
“I want to thank two decades of Board members, parents and faculty for their hope in a dream and their sacrificial giving of time and resources. As we enter our 25th year of operations, we are thankful this new building can be a tool for fulfilling our mission,” Paul said.
Construction on the New Upper School facility, spanning over 45,000 square feet, began in March 2024 and will serve grades 6-12, underscoring the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing environment for academic and spiritual growth.
On Saturday, Regents broke ground on the spacious 600-seat gymnasium wing, complete with locker and weight rooms, designed to facilitate athletic pursuits and physical education. The facility will also feature a dining hall boasting both indoor and outdoor seating, fostering a sense of community and providing students with a comfortable space to enjoy meals together.
The outdoor area will include a lawn, offering ample space for outdoor activities and gatherings.
The event marks 25 completion of the New Upper School project, which is expected to open in Fall 2025.
Matt Schroeder, Regents Head of School, said, “We are thrilled with the building progress but we are most excited about what God is doing in our classrooms, halls, stages and fields everyday – discipling students to love, serve and glorify God utilizing the classical methodology to encourage humans who will think deeply, engage with their community and love their God and neighbor.”
Jenny Stubblefield, chairman of the school’s board of directors said the facility will enable the Regents leadership to continue fostering educational excellence and upholding the school’s mission.
The event was attended by local leaders, the board of directors and administrators, and a host of parents and supporters of the institution.
