Marshall County man arrested after crashing car while running from police

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on May 28, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a careless driver on Highway 7.
A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle near the Highway 7 and CR 1032 intersection.
A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, when the deputy got out of his patrol car, the vehicle sped off heading southbound. The vehicle turned around and headed north on Hwy. 7. The deputy pursued.
The vehicle eventually collided with another vehicle near the CR 244 and Hwy. 7 intersection. The driver then fled the vehicle on foot.
The suspect was later arrested and identified as Larriel Milam, 30, of Marshall County.
Both Milam and the other party were transported to the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the crash.
Milam was transported from the emergency room to the Lafayette County Detention Center and was issued a $5,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge.
Milam also has a hold placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the Union County Sheriff’s Department, the Oxford Police Department, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, and Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
