Oxford falls to Hernando in first game of the 7A North Half

The Oxford Chargers dropped a hard-fought loss to the Hernando Tigers 2-1 on Friday in the first game of the 7A North Half Championship series.
Oxford (23-11) on the scoreboard first with a run in the second on a double off the bat of Jack Harper.
The Chargers starter Brady Stinnett was on fire out of the gate not allowing a hit with four strikeouts through the first two innings on the mound.
Hernando took the lead in the sixth inning on a single and double to go up 2-1 going into the seventh inning.
Stinnett pitched 6.0 complete innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
The Chargers got the tying run to second base in the top of the seventh as Harper doubled but couldn’t get him home.
Harper finished the game going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Oxford returns to the diamond on Saturday as they host Hernando in game two of the series. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
