Sen. Boyd named Top 50 influential people in the state

Sen. Nicole Akins Boyd was named as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 most influential people.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state.
Boyd was elected in of 2019Y and re-elected in 2023 to the Mississippi Senate, where she represents Lafayette and Panola Counties.
In the Senate, Boyd chairs the University and Colleges Committee and is the Vice-Chair of Medicaid. During her first term, Boyd chaired the Maternal, Infant, and Children Task Force.
Over the last four years, Boyd sponsored, and co-sponsored legislation enacted into law ranging from maternal health, workforce development, consumer insurance legislation, telemedicine expansion, dyslexia, veteran’s issues, dementia, adoption, foster care, and economic development.
In 2020, Boyd received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Small Business Federation for her work with small businesses and their employees during the pandemic.
Additionally, she received a Champion for Children Award, Health Care Leadership Award, Mississippi Tourism Legislative Friend Award and Legislator of the Year from the Mississippi Realtors Association.
Prior to being elected to the legislature, Boyd served as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the 1990s and served as legal counsel for the Secretary of State for sixteenth section and public lands.
She is married to Dr. Daniel Boyd, a physician and small business owner. They have two children Izzy and Speight.
