Ed. Note: This is the first of a series allowing candidates for the Alderman At-Large seat to discuss themselves and what they want for Oxford.

Oxford businessman Brad Feltenstein last week announced that he will seek the position of Alderman At-Large in the upcoming special election to fill the vacated seat of now Supervisor John Morgan in the upcoming special election.

Feltenstein said he offers Oxford strong leadership with the experience needed to serve Oxford in a time of record growth. “Oxford is a great place to live, work and raise a family – which is clear by the growth we’re experiencing in our great city,” he said after filing his qualification paperwork with the clerk’s office. “Our quality of life is second to none, but to remain a strong and attractive city, we need strong leaders with a plan.”

Feltenstein cites public safety, schools, infrastructure, smart growth and fiscal responsibility amongst the top issues he is dedicated to addressing if elected.

He has lived in, and served, Oxford for more than two decades. He is the owner of Appraisers Associated of Oxford, Inc. and Feltenstein Realty Group and has served in various capacities, including service on the More Than a Meal Board, the Oxford Charger Booster Club and as a member of the North Central Mississippi Realtor Association Board.

Feltenstein was appointed by Gov. Tate Reeves to the Mississippi Real Estate Appraisal Board in 2021 and is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette (Class of 2011).

Brad and his family are members of Oxford University United Methodist Church, where he has also served on numerous committees.

The special election will be held on Feb. 6.
