A peaceful protest was held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26, on the Oxford Square.
“March for Gaza” was posted on fliers as approximately 100 people gathered in front of city hall under cloudy skies and with temperatures dipping into the low 50s.
The city’s permanent U.S. flag and seasonal Christmas trees provided a jumbled backdrop.
The protest included speeches, chanting and a march around the Square. Slogans included “Biden, Biden, you can’t hide; we charge you with genocide” and “Hey Hey, Ho Ho, the occupation has to go” and “Free Free Palestine.”
Oxford police officers were stationed on the Square during the event, which began at 1:30 and concluded at 2:41 pm.
