A woman from Yalobusha County was reported to have died from complications due to COVID-19 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Yalobusha Coroner Ronnie Stark reported that the victim was 78 years old, but did not supply the woman’s name. Her death is the newest COVID-related death in Yalobusha County and pushes the total number of deaths in the county connected to the virus to eight.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported the first seven deaths in the county were all long-term care facility residents. This fatality marks the first in the county from the general population.

The number of confirmed cases in Yalobusha County has increased to 183 which increased by three on Tuesday according to MSDH. The number includes all confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the agency first started tracking the virus in March.
