Portions of Highway 6 are seeing renovations as part of a project awarded by the Mississippi Department of Transportation, which provided updates this week.

John Caldwell, MDOT Northern Transportation Commissioner, announced the $10.8 million overlay project is on track to be completed by spring 2021.

The project consists of two sections. The first section is from the Panola County line to Chucky Mullins Drive in Oxford. Joint repair of this section has already begun.

The second section of the project runs from the Highway 7 intersection to the Sizzler Steakhouse on Highway 6 East. Both eastbound lanes have been paved, and crews are working on the westbound lanes in section one.

The entire project was awarded to Lehman Roberts Company.
