There’s nothing that feeds a rivalry quite like recruiting. It gets even more fun if said recruit is an in-state player that flips from one rival school to another. That’s exactly what happened on Thursday night.

Jakivuan Brown, a three-star linebacker from Horn Lake High School, flipped his commitment on Thursday from Mississippi State to Ole Miss.

“I want to thank the Mississippi State coaching staff for recruiting me,” Brown said in a statement on Twitter. “After talking to my parents and coaches, I’ve decided to de-commit from Mississippi State University. I’ve decided to commit to the university of Mississippi and close my recruitment. Please respect my decision.”

Brown had committed to Mississippi State back in June. After a late summer trip to Ole Miss, the Rebels got him to change his mind and close his recruitment.

A 6-foot-3 outside linebacker, Brown is the No. 23 ranked high school senior in the state of Mississippi and the No. 51 outside linebacker nationally, according to 247sports recruiting experts.

Brown is the second Horn Lake senior to commit to the Rebels. Teammate Josaih Hayes, a four-star defensive tackle, committed back in June. The Rebels’ 2020 recruiting class now ranks No. 17 nationally and contains 23 commitments.
