NAMI Oxford to host free mental health workshop

NAMI Oxford, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is inviting the public to a free community mental health workshop on April 24 at 4 p.m. at the Oxford-Lafayette County Public Library.

The workshop is part of NAMI Oxford’s ongoing mission to educate and empower residents across North Mississippi. Attendees will learn more about mental health awareness, available community resources, and the various support programs that NAMI Oxford offers.

Serving 13 counties—including Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate, Yalobusha, Benton, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc, and Union—NAMI Oxford provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

The organization is grounded in a set of core values – hope, inclusion, empowerment, compassion and fairness.

Support groups

NAMI Oxford also facilitates two free, peer-led support groups at the Oxford-Lafayette County Public Library:

  • Connection Support Group: Meets Sundays from 3:30- 5 p.m. for adults living with mental health conditions.
  • Family Support Group: Meets on the second and fourth Saturdays from 10-11:30 a.m. for family members of individuals affected by mental illness.

These groups offer a safe and supportive space to share experiences and coping strategies.
