Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on March 4 on Highway 6 West on a vehicle traveling at night without its headlights.

Deputies searched the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.

During the search, deputies located a handgun in the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were both previously convicted felons.
