Lafayette tennis remains unbeaten in district after 4-3 win over Corinth

Lafayette remained unbeaten in district play with a 4-3 win over Corinth at the John Leslie Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
The Commodores are now 4-0 in the district and 5-3 overall.
Lafayette won matches at girls singles, boys doubles, and mixed doubles.
Jenna Lampton won 6-0, 6-0 over Corinth’s Zela Dalton in girls singles. In boys doubles Finn Rico and Ethan Byrd teamed up to defeat Tilden Studdard and Harsh Patel 6-1, 6-1, while Porter Lindsey and Tate Spicer downed Witt Dalton and Timmons McGrath 7-6, 7-6. In mixed doubles Jake Leary and Chloe Childers rallied after losing the first set to win 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 over Corinth’s Annie Stanley and Baker Holley.
In other matches, Corinth’s Occoee Pina won 6-0, 6-1 in boys singles over Owens Smith. In girls doubles the Warriors Sheridan Shipp and Cora Johnson won 6-0, 6-2 over Bailey Tatum and Caroline Butts and Lucy Smith and Lynne Shipp won 6-1, 6-2 over Lafayette’s Annalyse Smith and Cate Hughes.
Next up on the Commodores’ schedule is a home match against Northwest Rankin at 3:30 p.m. today.
