Oxford tennis defeats New Albany

Oxford defeated New Albany 5-2 at the John Leslie Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
Oxford’s Andrew Koestler defeated Bradyn Bowman 6-2, 6-1 in boys singles.
Oxford won both boys doubles matches. Tal Turner and Van Turner won 6-1, 6-1 over Hunter Henson and Gregory Nelson while Henry Oyler and Rigby Devera defeated Jacob Christ and Kid Bennett 6-2, 6-4.
Oxford won the mixed doubles match 6-2, 6-1 as Sam Shipman and Lainey Schuesselin beat Matthew Durrett and Julianna Langley.
Oxford’s Allie Harris Flowers and Lotte Luger teamed to win 6-1, 6-2 over Emma Ferrell and Trulea Bennett.
New Albany’s girls number 2 doubles team of Caurie Clayton and Lilly Stout won over Oxford’s Anna Garrett Henderson and Maddie Lowery 6-2, 6-4.
New Albany’s Heidi Clayton beat Oxford’s Jane Anne Singletary 6-1, 6-0 in girls singles.
Additionally, Oxford won three matches last Friday as it hosted teams from Alabama. The scores of those matches were Oxford 5, Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, Ala. 2; Oxford 6, Muscle Shoals 1; and Oxford 7, Tuscaloosa Hillscrest 0.
Oxford next plays Lewisburg on Saturday in a home district match.
