Wintry mix of some kind expected Tuesday night

Winter is still very much here. Get those heavy coats, gloves and hats back out. You’re going to need them this week.
After another cold blast moves into our area on Tuesday night, temperatures will drop into the teens at night this week, with the highs remaining in the 30s.
As of Monday morning, the National Weather Service shows possible snow, ice and/or freezing rain, mixed in with rain showers Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning.
Rain is expected to roll in Tuesday evening. As temps drop, the rain could mix with snow between midnight and 3 a.m. and then turn into snow showers. The low will be around 24 degrees.
However, being north Mississippi where the weather forecasts change faster than bad news travels, it’s recommended to stay weather aware and keep an eye on weather forecasts for the next two days.
Currently, the NWS is calling for about a half inch of snow for Lafayette County.
After whatever winter mix falls, the cold remains.
The high on Wednesday should be around 33 degrees with winds at 10 to 15 mph, making it feel even colder. The low will dip down to 11 degrees.
Thursday, the high is expected to be near 28 degrees with the low going down to 13 degrees/ The winds will be calmer at 5 to 10 mph.
By Friday, temperatures will begin to warm slightly with mostly sunny skies expected and a high near 38 degrees and a low of 22 degrees.
The weekend is looking better with the highs in the mid-40s to low 50s and the overnight lows around 24-25 degrees.
