Lafayette High boys soccer has won its first-ever state championship after defeating South Jones 2-0 at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt on Monday afternoon.
Porter Lindsay took a pass from Wesley Kilpatrick, got past a defender and a sliding goalkeeper to put the Commodores on top 1-0 in the 14th minute.
Kilpatrick would later score a goal in the 30th minute to make the score 2-0, which would be the final margin.
The trip to the title match was Lafayette’s third consecutive season of playing for the state championship.
