Registered voters living in the city limits of Taylor will head to the polls on June 3 to cast their votes for who they want to serve as mayor.

Mayor Christi Hardy will face Shawn Edwards, a current sitting alderman. Both candidates qualified to run in January.

Two incumbent aldermen, Lynn Roberts and Bill Taylor also qualified to run to retain their seats on the Board of Aldermen but no one else chose to run against either candidate.

Aldermen Jimmie Willingham and Sarah Hewlett will not be running again.

Tim Carter, Steve Corso and Jim Hamilton qualified to run as aldermen. Taylor does not have wards, like Oxford. There are five at-large aldermen on the board and there are five candidates.

Therefore, Taylor’s new Board of Aldermen will be Carter, Corso, Hamilton, Roberts and Taylor. Voters will only be casting votes in the mayoral election.
