The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors approved both the preliminary and final site plans for the Spacebox Flex Space project during its regular meeting on Monday.
The developers plan to construct a flexible-use building featuring multiple units arranged in a U-shaped design. These units will be available for lease to businesses requiring a combination of office and storage space.
One prospective tenant for the development is GenTeal Apparel, according to Joel Hollowell, director of Developmental Services. GenTeal lost their warehouse in the Lafayette County Max D. Hipp Industrial Park last winter when the roof collapsed under snow and ice.
The property, located along County Road 101 up to the industrial park, is zoned as a commercial medium-density (C-2) district. Individual tenants whose intended use falls outside the C-2 parameters would need to seek conditional use permits.
The developers have received approval from the Mississippi State Department of Health for the onsite wastewater system and are working to secure final approval from the city of Oxford for water service.
