Several residents, organizations and businesses scrambled this week to gather emergency food, water and personal care items to deliver to areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Drop-off locations were quickly set up throughout the week and Oxford citizens answered the call in a big way.

Oxford Toyota/Belk Ford collected water, juice, food, diapers, flashlights and more. Their trailer is heading Cocke County later today to drop off the items. They are still taking donations until the end of the work day today.

Not only did local residents drop off tons of items, but dozens showed up to help pack the trailer, including Oxford students from the Charger wrestling and football teams and color guard.

The Oxford Police Department asked Oxonians to consider donating money via an online website by the McDowell Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina.

OPD also joined the Arbors at the Park, Hooper Hollow and Stronger Together Oxford to hold a drive on Thursday specifically for feminine care products for hurricane and flood victims.

The University of Mississippi Associated Student Body collected non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers, bedding supplies, electronic chargers, trash bags and other items that will be delivered this weekend.
