On Aug. 9, an officer with the Oxford Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 30, for a traffic violation.

A vehicle search was conducted due to narcotics being found in the vehicle. The driver, Shuantarius Thomas, 23, of Oxford, a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a firearm.

Thomas was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and multiple misdemeanor charges.

Thomas’s bond was set by a Municipal Court judge.
