Oxford’s Teer wins Judge’s Choice award at Dance Like the Stars

Oxford’s Dr. William Teer won the Judges’ Choice Category for his quickstep to Blue Suede Shoes at the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi’s Dance Like the Stars event that raised over $223,000 for the youth development organization.
The event was held on Aug. 3 at the Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo. Nine local celebrities competed for Grand Champion and Judges’ Choice titles. Each celebrity was paired with a dance professional at The Dance Studio of Tupelo to learn and perform a ballroom dance routine.
Georgia Kate Conner of Ripley won the Grand Champion Fundraising Category by raising $47,701.
Second Place Grand Champion was Robert Bass representing Tupelo with a total of $25,554 and Third Place Grand Champion was Katie Scott Haywood, also representing Tupelo, with a total of $25,435.
Michael Holloway took home second place in the Judge’s Choice category representing Tupelo, and Candace Hunt, also of Tupelo came in third.
The Dance Studio of Tupelo is owned by Rubye Del Harden. Professional instructors were Tammy Wilson, Andrew Davis, Sara Davis, Gage Wood and Cameron Stevens.
Celebrity hosts were Allie Martin, Katrina Ivy, Alyssa Martin, Daniella Oropeza and Greg Pirkle.

The Facebook People’s Choice award went to both Haywood and Knight.
