Man charged with sexual battery

The Oxford Police Department received a call from a victim on July 31 about a sexual assault that occurred in the 1500 block of University Ave.
Officers and investigators began looking into the reported incident.
On Aug. 13, investigators served a warrant for sexual battery on Elton Keith McCommon, 65, of Memphis, who was already in custody at the Lafayette County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
A bond will be set by a Municipal Court judge.
