The Lafayette County Multi-Purpose Arena has announced the launch of Meet Your Farmer days, a series of free events that will be held every Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. starting June 27 and running until August 8.
These events proposed by local farmers will provide a unique opportunity to show the connection between programs such as 4-H and FFA and how it translates to a thriving agricultural business community.
Meet Your Farmer days aim to bridge the gap between the community and local agricultural producers, promoting the benefits of consuming fresh, locally sourced products.
Attendees will have the chance to purchase a variety of goods directly from the farmers who produce them, ensuring a fresh and authentic shopping experience. In addition to meeting local farmers, visitors can explore a wealth of programs offered by the Mississippi State Extension office.
The Extension office is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Mississippians through practical, research-based information and services. They provide an array of programs, most of which are free, including:
4-H Youth Development: Hands-on education programs for children, fostering growth and learning in agriculture, science, and more.
Adult Education Programs: Workshops and courses aimed at adults and farmers, covering topics from home gardening to advanced agricultural techniques.
Professional Development: Programs designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of professional farmers within the community.
These events not only support local farmers but also enrich the community by providing access to essential educational resources. The collaboration with the Mississippi State Extension office ensures that attendees receive the latest and most relevant information to help them thrive in various aspects of life, from personal development to professional growth.
