The Lafayette Commodores softball team prepares for its 5A North Half Championship series against Corinth. The series gets underway Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Corinth.
Lafayette (25-9) has rolled through the first two rounds of the playoffs by sweeping Cleveland Central and New Hope.
The Commodores’ head coach Greg Lewis talked to the Oxford Eagle about how he has seen his team progress.
“The girls have done a better job of getting the third out in pressure situations and getting big hits with runners on base,” Lewis said.
Corinth (20-6) made it to the North Half Championship by sweeping Yazoo City and Pontotoc.
Lafayette and Corinth met back in March, as Corinth swept the Commodores.
“Corinth has a good hitting team,” Lewis said. “They hit five home runs in game one last week against Pontotoc.”
Game times for this series are set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in Corinth and 6 p.m. on Friday at Lafayette.
