The first pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Hernando.
Oxford (23-10) comes into this North Half series after taking the series from Germantown 2-1 in the first round and sweeping Madison Central in the second round of the playoffs.
Hernando (24-6) rolls into this series after sweeping Tupelo in the first round and taking the series from Lewisburg in round two.
The Oxford Chargers head coach Cade Hoggard sat down with the Oxford Eagle to talk about this matchup.
These two teams met back in the regular season in the first part of April with the Tigers winning the series.
“When we met earlier, Hernando won the first game 8-6 at Oxford by scoring most of their runs in the seventh,” Hoggard said. “In the second they just won. We are a different team now than when we played last time.”
Oxford is a veteran team coming into the North Half. Last season, the Chargers made it to the North Half before falling to Lewisburg 2-1 in the series.
“Our guys have been in this spot last season, facing Lewisburg in the North Half,” Hoggard said. “This week we have prepared every day to play Oxford High baseball. On Friday we will head to Hernando to face them in an environment in which their fans and students will be ready for a great game.”
The first game of the series will be Friday at 7 p.m., then Oxford will host Saturday at 7 p.m. with a third game set for Monday at 7 p.m.
