Lafayette Commodores fall to Tupelo 3-1

The Lafayette Commodores fall to Tupelo 3-1 on Tuesday night at home.
Lafayette (19-7) got back-to-back doubles by Jack East and Tanner Harris in the second. Foster Crockett singled to third that scored East from third base to go up 1-0.
The Commodores’ starting pitcher, Nick Kagey, allowed a hit through the first two innings. Kagey worked 2+ innings and allowed three runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Tupelo got a lead-off double to start the third inning. Tupelo tied the game on a hit-by-pitch. Later in the frame, Waller Smith had a strikeout for the first out with the bases loaded before a sacrifice fly to right field gave Tupelo a 2-1 advantage. The third run came in for Tupelo in the inning to go up 3-1.
Smith worked 3.1 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
The Commodores then brought Brody Breithaupt to the mound. Breithaupt went 1.2 innings and surrendered no runs on no hits with three walks and no strikeouts.
Lafayette plays host to Starkville on Friday night. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
