Early Friday morning, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding an alarm at TGC Outdoors on Highway 7.
A deputy saw a vehicle leaving the business and conducted a traffic stop. However, the occupants of the vehicle opened fire at the deputy before fleeing north on Highway 7.
The deputy was not injured in the shooting.
Despite the deputy’s efforts to stop the suspects’ vehicle, the group managed to escape into Marshall County.
Following an extensive search, the suspects were located and taken into custody. They have been identified as Shoundarius Bogard, 24; Mykial Penilton, 19; and Montrell Ramsey, 20, all of Marshall County.
Additionally, multiple firearms believed to be connected to the incident were recovered.
Sheriff Joey East expressed his gratitude to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the Holly Springs Police Department and the Oxford Police Department for their swift and collaborative efforts in assisting with the search and subsequent apprehension of the suspects.
