Lafayette defeats Pontotoc 5-4 in extra innings

The Lafayette Commodores walked the game off in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Pontotoc 5-4 on Tuesday.
In the eighth inning, both teams were tied 4-4 when Jack Wyatt East singled and scored the winning run.
Pontotoc got on the scoreboard first with a solo home run in the fifth.
The Commodores answered in the home half of the fifth on a double off the bat of Houston Morgan who scored two runs.
Pontotoc added two more runs in the sixth to go up 4-2.
Lafayette’s Swayze Rikard hit a sacrifice fly that tied the game up in the seventh.
The Commodores sent Tanner Harris to the mound to start the game. Harris pitched over six innings of work while he allowed four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Brody Breithaupt got the win tossing two innings of scoreless baseball in relief.
These two teams will face off against each other again tonight at Pontotoc. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
