For the third season in a row, Ole Miss women’s basketball heard its name called on Selection Sunday for yet another trip to the big dance and its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
The No. 7 Rebels, slotted in the Albany 1 region, begin their tournament journey in a first-round matchup in South Bend, Ind., facing off against No. 10 Marquette.
In the past three seasons, Ole Miss has re-established itself as a national threat by posting three straight 20-win seasons. This past season, Ole Miss set a new program best with 12 wins in SEC play to finish third in the conference, its highest since 1991–92. In year six under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, the development of her players has been undeniable with the rise of Marquesha Davis and Madison Scott into First Team All-SEC selections. McPhee-McCuin recently earned her 100th win at the helm of the Rebels, joining Van Chancellor as the only two coaches in program history to achieve the feat.
Making its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance, Ole Miss boasts 11 Sweet Sixteens and five Elite Eights in its 49 years of women’s basketball. With seven Rebels carrying NCAA Tournament playing experience, McPhee-McCuin heads to the madness for her fourth time as a head coach.
The Rebels kick off tournament action versus the Marquette Golden Eagles from South Bend, Ind. on Saturday (March 23) with time and television to be announced.
