Lafayette baseball defeats Corinth for first district win

The Lafayette Commodores defeated the Corinth Warriors 10-0 on Thursday night in district action.
Lafayette (6-5, 1-1) jumped out early with a quick six runs in the first inning. The Commodores would add two runs in the second to go up 8-0 over Corinth.
The Commodores got multi-hits from Brody Breithaupt, Houston Morgan, Connor Counts and Brain Bishop.
Counts finished the game going 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Bishop was right behind him at 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
Lafayette added their final two runs in the fifth for the ten-run rule.
The Commodores had Tanner Harris on the mound for 3.0 innings and surrendered no runs on two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Harris picked up the win. Breithaupt came on the pitch in relief and worked two innings, and allowed four walks to the Warriors.
Lafayette returns to action on Tuesday as they take on Itawamba Agricultural at 12:30 p.m. and Memphis University School at 3 p.m.
