In 2023, 9 Lives Cat Rescue fixed 409 animals, with the help of private donations and their community partners.
“Throughout the year, our collective efforts resulted in the successful fixing of 409 animals,” said the president of 9 Lives Natascha Techen Scott. “This accomplishment has not only prevented the birth of thousands of unwanted and potentially homeless animals but has also spared them from unnecessary suffering.”
9 Lives took in 216 cats, adopted out 150 and currently has 22 cats in foster care needing forever homes.
Some of the cats, 277, were spayed and neutered through 9 Live’s low-cost spay and neuter program. The group also captures feral cats, fixes them, and then releases them back to where they were found to help control the feral cat problem.
They returned 24 stray cats to their owners and transferred nine cats to other shelters to be adopted.
The nonprofit group worked with Bottletree Animal Hospital, Magnolia Small Animal Hospital, Animal Clinic of Oxford as well as PetSmart, Hollywood Feed and the Oxford Animal Resource Center.
“We are fortunate to have such dedicated allies in our mission,” Techen Scott said. “A special thank you goes out to our devoted volunteers and fosters who have opened their hearts and homes to cats in need. Your tireless efforts in ensuring their health and help to find them loving homes have not gone unnoticed.”
Techen Scott expressed gratitude to all those who have made donations – whether it was money or items – and who supported 9 Lives by sharing social media posts.
“As we reflect on the accomplishments of 2023, let us take pride in the positive impact we have made together,” she said. “With your continued support, we are confident that we will achieve even greater milestones in the future.”
