Lafayette County Emergency Management, in collaboration with the Lafayette County Leadership and the Lafayette County Road Department, has made the decision not to plow the county roads following a thorough assessment of current weather conditions.
“After consulting with the Lafayette County Road Department and considering the safety of our community members, it has been determined that plowing the roads at this time would pose significant risks,” stated a press release from Lafayette County. “The initial layer of sleet that fell before the snow has created a hazardous situation, and removing the snow layer may exacerbate the existing icy conditions.”
The decision not to plow the roads is based on a careful evaluation of the potential consequences of snow removal in these specific weather conditions, according to the press release.
Lafayette County Emergency Management prioritizes the safety of residents and aims to minimize the risks associated with winter weather.
Residents are urged to stay home and if they must travel exercise extreme caution and stay informed about the current road conditions.
Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.
