Dennis Murphree Ford passed peacefully from this earth on Dec. 8 in Oxford,
Mississippi, with his daughters by his side. Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 11,
2020, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home. A private inurnment will

Born to parents, William Watkins Ford, Jr. and Mary Frances Murphree,
Dennis spent his formative years in Jackson, Mississippi. A graduate of
Murrah High School, Dennis received his BBA in Business Administration,
Banking and Finance from the University of Mississippi. He continued his
graduate work, as a member of the University’s 1967 Law School class and
was later awarded an LLM in Taxation from New York University’s School of
Law. Dennis then sought an additional degree in an accelerated accounting
program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Following early work with Ernst
& Young, he established a successful law practice in Jackson, retiring and
moving to Oxford, Mississippi in 1995.
An accomplished pilot and sailor, Dennis also loved hiking in Jackson Hole,
Wyoming and spending time with his beloved wife of over fifty years, the late
Judy Knowles Ford. He was devoted to all of his family, including his two
daughters, Jennifer Ford and Mary Burton McGee, as well as his son-in-law,
Kevin McGee. He especially cherished his four grandchildren: Ford Smith,
Eliza Weir McGee, Kaylee McGee, and Brice McGee.
Although a world-traveler who enjoyed experiencing new adventures, Dennis
loved coming home to Oxford, spending time with family, friends, and his
dearly loved Jack Russell dogs.
