Residents of Oxford have two more weeks left of free parking before the city goes back to regular metered parking in off-street parking areas.
The Board of Aldermen approved the Downtown Parking Advisory Commission’s recommendation to turn parking meters and kiosks back on in the outer parking lots on Tuesday, July 21.
Regular parking rates and monthly parking permits will resume on August 3. There will still be free parking available on the second through fourth floors of the downtown parking garage and in the parking lot under the water tower by the OPC office. Spots that have been reserved for restaurants’ curbside pickup service will remain free.
The City of Oxford turned off all metered parking around the Square when the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the Oxford area.
Parking meters inside the Square were turned back on the first of June while the outer lots were left off.
